d\u00e9fend une vie simple, autonome et proche de la nature.<br>Son \u0153uvre la plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre, Walden, raconte les deux ann\u00e9es qu\u2019il passe dans une cabane pr\u00e8s de l\u2019\u00e9tang de Walden, afin d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter une existence sobre et ind\u00e9pendante.<br>Thoreau critique le mat\u00e9rialisme, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 industrielle et le conformisme social.<br>Il consid\u00e8re que l\u2019individu doit suivre sa conscience plut\u00f4t que les lois injustes.<br>Cette id\u00e9e appara\u00eet dans son essai Civil Disobedience, r\u00e9dig\u00e9
