Il en conclut qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 qui vaille pour tous car nous ne percevons pas les choses de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on. C\u2019est pour cela qu\u2019il dit que l\u2019homme est la mesure de toute chose, cela signifie que la qualit\u00e9 de chaque chose va d\u00e9pendre de l\u2019homme qui la per\u00e7oit. Il prend ainsi l\u2019exemple de deux personnes distinctes qui sentent qu\u2019il y a du vent, l\u2019une peut trouver que ce vent est froid, l\u2019autre peut dire au contraire qu\u2019il est chaud. Il sera impossible de dire qui a raison, car alors la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 est relative, elle d\u00e9pend du point de vue. Ou, en d\u2019autres termes, ils ont raison tous les deux. Pour Protagoras, aucune raison n\u2019existe d\u2019accorder plus de valeur \u00e0 une certaine perception plut\u00f4t qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019autre. En effet, si tout d\u00e9pend des sensations, ainsi ces animaux aussi ont des perceptions diff\u00e9rentes et leur v\u00e9rit\u00e9. Plus encore, si la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 est relative, cela signifie que les enseignants n\u2019ont pas davantage la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 que les autres. Pourquoi alors faudrait-il les \u00e9couter ? Il vise ici Protagoras qui est un enseignant. Pour Platon, la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 n\u2019est pas relative, car il faut bien distinguer ce qui est une opinion et ce qui est une v\u00e9rit\u00e9. Les go\u00fbts, les sensations sont des opinions. En revanche, dans des domaines dans lesquels l\u2019on peut utiliser la raison et notamment les sciences, on peut arriver \u00e0 une v\u00e9rit\u00e9 objective puisque prouv\u00e9e. Le scientifique commence par observer les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes : au sein de ces observations, il cherche \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer des r\u00e9gularit\u00e9s, il \u00e9met alors une hypoth\u00e8se, fond\u00e9e sur la g\u00e9n\u00e9ralisation des r\u00e9gularit\u00e9s (\u00ab\u00a0A est toujours suivi de B \u00bb). Ces deux premi\u00e8res \u00e9tapes d\u00e9finissent la m\u00e9thode inductive. Le scientifique prolonge cette d\u00e9marche inductive en imaginant une exp\u00e9rience qui lui permettrait de tester la validit\u00e9 de son hypoth\u00e8se ; il r\u00e9alise ensuite cette exp\u00e9rience, et compare les r\u00e9sultats obtenus aux pr\u00e9visions \u00e9labor\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de son hypoth\u00e8se. Ainsi, en math\u00e9matiques et en logique, remontrez aux propositions pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes pour v\u00e9rifier que la d\u00e9duction est bien logique. Or, on ne peut pas remonter alors \u00e0 l\u2019infini.
